The Georgetown Police Department released their monthly statistics for August 2024. In the report, it was noted that there were 12 reported cases of Burglary of Vehicle, which is a significant increase of 200% from July. The police department emphasized that these incidents occurred because vehicles were left unlocked or valuables were visible. Additionally, 29 cases of DUI/DWI were reported, showing a 26% increase from the previous month. Overall, there were 136 arrests made, which is up by 4% from July. The department also responded to 6936 calls for service, which is a 3% increase from the previous month. Police remind the citizens of Georgetown to lock their vehicles, conceal valuables, and take their keys with them to prevent theft.
